Slip-Proof
drill pipe is a Grant Prideco patented product designed
to improve the fatigue life of drill pipe by reducing
the effect of slip damage. The pipe is manufactured with
a thick-wall cross section tube welded between the box
tool joint and the upset drill pipe tube. The thick-wall
section has the same OD and ID as the drill pipe upset
and the tool joint weld neck. The thicker section is approximately
32” long and has a minimum yield strength of 120,000
psi.
