CNC Turning, Boring, Drilling, Milling and Threading
Tube-Alloy has wide capabilities in turning, boring, drilling and
threading on Computer Numerically Controlled Turning Centers. Tube-Alloy's
CNC lathes are rigid, precise state of the art tools that can accommodate
short work pieces or long bars or tubes placed through the hollow
spindle machine head.
O.D. Turning
Outside turning part diameter range is 4" to 34" adjacent
to chuck. Larger O.D.parts are limited to approximately 12"
in length.
Outside turning part diameter range is 1/2" to 24" for
pieces between 12" to 120" in length. Turning of larger
O.D. pieces is also possible, depending on part length.
I.D. Boring
Boring is achieved with rigidly suspended boring bars. Internal
contouring, grooving, threading, etc. is possible with other tools.
Maximum bore diameter is limited only by the outside part diameter
constraints (see O.D.Turning). Minimum bore diameter is normally
.750", smaller bores are normally drilled.
Drilling
Holes can easily be drilled on part center line or fixtured for
off center drilling with drills mounted in the turret. Hole counter
boring, chamfering or reaming can easily be accomplished.
Tube-Alloy also has manual lathes and manual vertical milling machines
to complement its CNC turning, boring and drilling capabilities.
Skiving (For Rapid I.D. Enlarging)
Tube-Alloy's precision skiving (reaming) capability can process
tubes up to 30 feet long. The machine utilizes a machining head
capable of reaming .080" per pass, holding tolerances to +/-.002",
in a diameter range of 1.500" to 4.250". Finishes of 63
- 125 RMS are common. A special burnishing tool can be used to attain
8 - 16 RMS finishes. The advantage over honing is higher speed and
lower cost.
This equipment is also used for drilling deep holes in solid barstock
between 1.500" to 4.00" diameter, up to 16 feet long.
CNC Threading
Complex threading and grooving is Tube-Alloy's specialty. Tube-Alloy
is API Spec 5CT and 14A licensed. In addition, Tube-Alloy is licensed
to apply API threads and most of the world's proprietary threads.
